PLEASE NOTE: The Grace Communion Nashville congregation will be closing at the end of June 2022. Due to this, the gracecinashvilletn.org website will be closing in May. Before then, I will be removing extra pages and moving video and audio sermons and study questions to my blogsite at lifeinthetrinity.blog. I encourage you to find many resources as well on the http://www.gci.org website. My goal is to keep us connected with GCI and with one another.–Pastor Linda
We are Grace Communion Nashville, a congregation of Grace Communion International. We are a diverse group of people from all over the Metro Nashville area who believe the good news that God the Father has adopted humanity through the incarnation of his Son, Jesus Christ.
We average about 12-18 people in worship each Sunday. In that small group we have people who are a variety of races and cultures, ages, and financial means. Some drive many miles from rural areas and some live in the city neighborhood where we gather.
Our worship service each Sunday includes prayer, blended worship music, responsive reading, scripture readings, a sermon, and the celebration of communion. We invite kids of all ages to participate in the worship service, discipleship groups and activities of the church. On the 1st Sunday of the month, you are welcome to join us after worship for a potluck meal. On the 1st Sunday of the month following our potluck, we have Spiritual Formation group, where we study and practice spiritual disciplines together.
NOTE: As we meet in person each Sunday at 11 a.m. we ask that anyone who attends with us honor the 6′ social distancing protocols, and be diligent with handwashing, to help us not to spread COVID-19. If you are feeling ill or are running a temperature or are most vulnerable to COVID-19 complications, please stay home. The use of masks are at your discretion.
Christ-Centered Trinitarian Theology
Grace Communion Nashville is a church that embraces Trinitarian Theology and ministers to the city of Nashville from this theological perspective. Theologians from the history of the Church with whom we feel a special kinship include Irenaeus of Lyon, Athanasius of Alexandria, Gregory of Nyssa, Karl Barth, T.F. Torrance, J.B. Torrance, and Baxter Kruger, just to name a few.
Trinitarian Theology is a view of God in which we put Jesus’ revelation of the Father and the Holy Spirit at the center of everything we believe and do. We place particular emphasis on the loving, relational, and inclusive nature of God’s Triune Life. We believe that the Son of God has taken up permanent residence in human nature as the man Jesus in order to share this embracing life of the Trinity with all of humanity and the whole creation.
To learn more about the distinctive aspects of Trinitarian Theology we recommend Grace Communion International’s “You’re Included” site, The Surprising God Blog, Trinity and Humanity, and the booklet written by our denomination called The God Revealed in Jesus Christ: a Brief Introduction to Trinitarian Theology”.
Over the years we have had many of our Highland Heights neighbors share Grace Communion Nashville’s weekly Community Cafe meal on Sundays. We’re grateful to all of you who have stopped by. And I’m grateful to each one of our members who provided food for the meals and helped to serve it. Sad to say, after December 19, 2021, we will no longer be offering this free community service. But you are always welcome to join us for our 11 a.m. service upstairs or our monthly first Sunday of the month potluck downstairs following the service.
Our mailing address is different from our location address since we rent the church building from the Stones River Missionary Baptist Association.
